Campus Tree Mapping

The purpose of campus tree mapping is to document the locations of particular tree species on our campus for future maintenance and to create a database that can be visualized and analyzed. The Department of Botany identified 243 tree species. Using a database with the geographical presentation of the specimens (tree species), one can analyse urban heat and the projected heat-related concerns throughout the summer. The database acts as an institutional memory and provides an overview of the whole campus tree. It is used to identify the state of a tree that needs attention. Users can access all of the related therapeutic uses by clicking on a tree icon and can use the map for academic purposes. Using this map and the data, we can look into declining trends and find the causes.
